Continued.......
Back on earth, the professor lay on his death bed,
And broke the inevitable truth to the once little Murph.
And broke the inevitable truth to the once little Murph.
There was no plan ‘B’ which he so ambitiously lead,
He lied to keep the scientists working on his turf.
He lied to keep the scientists working on his turf.
So that they may remain motivated,
And know that salvation was near.
While the equation had long been equated,
And he knew that it had been a failure.
And know that salvation was near.
While the equation had long been equated,
And he knew that it had been a failure.
He however let them go,
The human species must live on.
It was entirely up to them though,
And there was no coming back once they’d gone.
The little murph burst into rage,
‘Did my father know?’ she demanded.
‘Did he leave me?’ at that tender age,
‘I’m sorry’ came the reply in a manner so candid.
They’d already left for their new destination by then,
And searched the camp of Dr Mann.
It was only then when,
In his delta sleep, they found their man.
He couldn’t believe his eyes,
After years, the first sign of life.
All alone on a planet covered with ice,
He had been mysteriously brought back to life.
He explained to them the planet’s physiology,
It seemed to be quite promising.
Except there was no ecology,
And back to earth he wanted to spring.
But that man turned out to be a rogue,
The fight for survival was the toughest.
And was very much in vogue,
A beast all alone, wanting to be released.
He conspired against the ex pilot,
Ripped off his transponder and fractured his mask.
And told him that the last thing he’d see through his eyelids,
Would be his children and his unaccomplished task.
He fought back with equal intensity,
He was gonna die on the hands of a mate.
And knew it nice and gritty,
But prayed that it weren’t his fate.
However, he was rescued,
But his other friend wasn’t as fortunate.
Caught in an explosion and was screwed,
Mann however travelled to the Endurance straight.
He tried to dock manually and was warned,
By the duo approaching behind him that it wasn’t safe.
But entering the spaceship he yearned,
He didn’t care whether it was unsafe.
Opened the hatch and triggered an explosion.
Treacherous was the end of his greed,
And damaged the Endurance along with corrosion.
With an awe they witnessed the unfolding moment,
Debris and priceless parts falling out of order.
A decision the father took at that instant,
Held their life expectancy along the border.
He tried to dock at the semi destroyed ship,
But that wasn’t the problem.
It was rendered swirling and in a slip,
And was drifting away from them.
He nevertheless made it,
The instinct of survival taking over.
And themselves together they started to knit,
Then realized their quest was far from over.
Without enough fuel left and no hope of survival,
They tried a shot at Edmund’s planet.
Using Gargantua’s gravity to slingshot to their point of arrival,
Losing one more crew member it meant.
The father decided that it was his time,
He had already made it this far.
He detached into the black hole in time,
Its effect pushed Dr Brand as far.
Into the darkness he plunged,
In a dimension no human ever went.
And out of his ship he lunged,
Into a dimension he had no idea what it meant.
Then suddenly he was in the little girl’s room,
Pushing books and moving shelves.
And it finally dawned to him in this hour of gloom,
That ‘ghost’, it was he himself.
It is said that gravity can travel through time,
And that was what he was gonna use.
To send a message to his daughter through time,
And give her the priceless clue.
Through which she could complete the equation of time,
She stood there motionless and still.
The hands of her dad’s clock moving in a strange line,
A Morse code that gave her the chills.
Eureka Eureka she shouted through the facility,
The equation has been solved.
And she sat down with complete tranquility,
Worked on the equation and got it evolved.
When the ex pilot opened his eyes,
On familiar earth like surroundings.
He was alive to his surprise,
But still couldn’t devise the circumstances of things.
The doctor said that he was a lucky man,
With only minutes of oxygen left in his possession.
He was also a very old man,
Having lived 126 years in succession.
He looked out of his hospital window,
Stared at a world where gravity didn’t apply.
Bewildered, asked where he was and how,
Did he reach this weird place with no sky.
It’s called the “Cooper station” the doctor said,
And amused was he for Cooper was his name.
But, it had been named after his daughter instead,
So apparently he wasn’t the one who had shot to fame.
The cooper station was currently orbiting Saturn,
But, that didn’t matter. Where was little Murph he demanded.
He was told that she was on her death bed but seeing him she yearned,
He was taken to a very old woman to whom her children tended.
He was taken aback at her sight,
An old, terribly old woman her face filled with delight.
Stretched her feeble hand outright,
They wouldn’t believe that one day with my father I’d unite.
I knew you’d come back. I knew you see,
Why? Because my dad had promised me.
******************************
So, what happened next? Well Cooper left his daughter to the company of her children and grandchildren and apparently, Edmund had died and Dr Brand was now on that planet, all set for her job. So Copper kind of sneaks out of the station and heads to Edmund's planet.
The End.
The End.
